Job Vacancy – Organiser

Job Title: Organiser

Status and hours: Permanent, 5 or 4 days per week (35 or 28 hours)

Location: London. Jubilee Debt Campaign is currently working from home, but once it is safe to return to an office you will be required to work at least 3 days per week from our London office

Salary: £27,033, rising to £31,339 in 5 annual increments

Deadline for applications: 9am on Monday 19 April 2021

Jubilee Debt Campaign is recruiting an Organiser to support our groups network, manage supporter events and support our Community Organising project ‘Together Against Debt’.

This is a new, key role in the organisation and crucial to the success of our campaigning. You will be responsible for growing a movement of people in the UK to stop harmful debt both in this country and around the world, inspiring people to take action for debt justice.

Reporting to the Head of Campaigns and working closely with our Senior Community Organiser and Digital Campaigner, you’ll be working across all the issues we campaign on global South debt, climate debt, and personal debt here in the UK.

You will:

  • Be responsible for growing and developing our activist base, supporting and mobilising existing supporters and local groups, and engaging new supporters in our work
  • Supporting our Senior Community Organiser with our Together Against Debt project, organising with people who are facing problem debt to influence relevant policies and government decisions
  • Be responsible for Jubilee Debt Campaign’s events and training programme, including webinars, campaign trainings, local and national events
  • Produce materials to educate people about our issues and that motivate them to get involved in campaigning.

We are looking for someone with experience of working with local activists and mobilising people at a grassroots level. Experience of community organising isn’t a prerequisite for the role and you will have the opportunity to learn new skills and build on your experience to date, working closely with our Senior Community Organiser.

We strongly value diversity and welcome applications from applicants from all backgrounds. We particularly encourage applications from people of colour.

The role will be working from home until Jubilee Debt Campaign decides it is safe for staff to return to working in the office.

The deadline for applications is 9am on Monday 19 April. Interviews will be held on Tuesday 27 April.
