New job vacancy – Senior Community Organiser

Job Title: Senior Community Organiser (Permanent, 28 hours per week)

Location: London (requests for remote working will be considered)

Salary: £29,294 (£36,618 pro rata)

Deadline for applications: Monday 16 March, 9am

Jubilee Debt Campaign is recruiting a Senior Community Organiser to organise with communities across the UK as part of our household debt campaign.

Personal debt has reached its highest ever level in the UK – a staggering £217bn. Low wages, insecure work and welfare cuts are pushing more and more people to rely on debt just to cover basic needs, and lack of effective regulation means borrowers are being charged punishing interest rates by rip-off lenders. The household debt crisis is driving poverty and mental health problems, harming people and families across the country. This must change, and we believe the most effective way to address the problem is by building the power of people who are affected.

This exciting new role is focused on organising and supporting people affected by the growing issue of problem debt, and campaigning for change.

Your organising, relationship-building and communication skills, and your commitment to building people-powered social change will be key to helping us drive forward inspiring and impactful campaigns as part of our five-year strategy. If you are committed to building the power of those most affected by injustice, to working collaboratively as part of a small team, and to bringing together the best of organising and campaigning know-how then this is the role for you.

We strongly value diversity and welcome applications from applicants from all backgrounds. We particularly encourage applications from people with a Black, Asian or minority ethnic (BAME) background.

We offer pension contributions of up to 7.5% of salary (depending on equivalent contributions made by the employee), an annual leave entitlement of 21 days (26 days pro rata) per year plus bank holidays pro rata, and flexi-time working arrangements outside the core hours of 10am-4pm. The role is based in our central London office near Old Street, but requests for remote working outside of London will be considered.

The deadline for applications is 9am on Monday 16 March. Interviews will be on Tuesday 31 March.
